Not an improvement
Agree with djhdjh that separate apps were more convenient than having all in one.
Great emulations of the Voyager series HP calculators. But I miss having separate apps and being able to have more than one open at a time.
Another hurt for Elvis Pfutzenreuter: For probably 99% of applications, the HP-11C and HP-12C are more than satisfactory. And guess what? Touch Fin contains the “free” version of both the HP-11C and HP-12C! The advertising is not intrusive and easily ignored - it’s up in the right hand corner where the HP logo would be. So, for 99% of users, why bother to purchase any of the “flavors”?
For what it’s worth, apparently, Elvis cut one dollar off of each of the custom “flavors,” formerly individual apps. That came just after I had purchased the individual apps.
I purchased the HP-12C, HP-15C, and HP-16C emulators JUST BEFORE they were “sunset.” I was really fortunate because I was able to download the iOS 6 versions of these apps on my iPod before the “sunset.”
Thanks to iTunes 22.214.171.124, I have been able to harvest the iOS 6 and iOS 9 IPAs of these apps. Because I find these more useful than the all-in-one app, I’m keeping these individual apps and not using the all-in-one app.
Overall, if I had to make a recommendation to Elvis, it would be:
Please bring back the individual (11C, 12C, 15C, 16C, &c) apps.
This just simply made more sense than the all-in-one app.
Oh, yes. Really off-the-wall request here: Please implement Touch Fin for Windows 10! I really would appreciate having these calculators on my computer.
Mac users would probably appreciate having them, as well.
Looks like garbage on iPhone X
Everything is fine on older phones, but the layout is garbage on the larger screen. Avoid.
Basic math, divide and multiply, do not work. Is that intended with the free version?
Great app. Worth paying for
I originally downloaded the free app.
I upgraded to the Palladium version for $5 and it didn’t work.
It started working and it’s fantastic
I think I did something wrong.
It’s worth paying for the ad free version and for it to display vertically as well.
Can’t have multiple calls open
I had the 11, 15 and 16. Opened one today and was told it was being “sunset” and I should get this one instead.
Once I opened my old ones, the new app worked fine with no ads. It it has one huge disadvantage. I use to keep the 16 and the 11 open at the same time. Now I have to switch modes. That is NOT an improvement.
Great - with one exception
I love this app- looks and functions just like the real thing. However, I have one problem with the display. Maybe it’s a setting that I can change, but I can’t figure it out. This is not the classic “the comma and decimal are switched” complaint, because I know that is fixable. Rather, my problem is with comma placement. After the first comma separator (between the hundreds and thousands), which is in the right place. It starts putting commas every 2 spaces instead of 3. So 7 million displays as “70,00,000.00”. 700 million displays as “70,00,00,000.00”. So far it doesn’t appear to affect calculations, but it’s really annoying
Want an 11c like I had before!!
Shouldn’t have deleted the old one before finding out this was a financial calculator - not an 11c. Doesn’t seem to have a way to turn on key clicks either. Should have kept ignoring the pop up window telling me to upgrade! No ads on that one either.
iOS asks for my Apple ID login when I launch app
By Mister Bix
iOS asks for my Apple ID login each time I launch app. Don’t know if this is triggered by app or a quirk in iOS.
Solid app otherwise. I highly recommend it if you’re nostalgic for the halcyon days of HP calculators.
Why is your app the only one that consistently has a window popping up asking me to input my Apple ID password? No other app I have does that. Coincidence or not. You be the judge.
Good but ...
As the owner of a real HP 11C, it’s nice. But a couple of nits:
The program does not accept input from a Bluetooth Keyboard. I’m not looking for magic here, but it should accept numerics, Period, Enter, Delete, up/down (roll the stack), +-x/. Maybe also C (CHS) and E (EEX), and CMD-Delete (clear stack)
Why if one is has paid for the Premium Scientific calc one does not have access to the basic version?
