Rule Two: Embrace Your True Expenses | Break up larger, less frequent expenses into smaller, manageable amounts. By saving monthly for insurance premiums, holidays, or car repairs, when the time comes, your money is ready and waiting to do its job. Rule Three: Roll With The Punches | When life changes, so must your budget. Make adjustments and move along. Flexible budgets succeed because they’re guilt-free, realistic, and sustainable. Financial prowess has never been a strong suit for me. Now I find balancing my budget relaxing and empowering. I won’t shut up about this app to my friends. Whaaaat?! I have YNAB to thank for this turnaround. I use Dave Ramsey’s baby steps, but this helps me manage my dollars in an even more conservative fashion (and YNAB has a great blog post on how to use Financial Peace University and their system together). It took me an evening with a couple glasses of wine, my statements, and my old spreadsheet to input everything and get YNAB set up. From there it’s a snap, and this super well-designed app is always synced, allowing me to take this show on the road. It works as well as it is intuitive and beautiful. A complete pleasure to use. Spend $ at the gas station? GPS knows it’s my usual gas station and bring it up automatically when I go to enter the transaction. SEAMLESS. It will always make you verify against your bank, which is awesome. I don’t want to have a set-and-forget system. This will make you account for every dollar, even the so-called “extra” ones. This is the kind of functionality that has given me control and a birds-eye view of my finances. Thank you YNAB. ❤️

But needs to support the iPhone X and provide more reporting options. These are minor annoyances and do not hinder me using the app. Please update soon!

App is pretty good. Justifying paying $6.99/month is hard though when the app isn’t built for iPhone X and there’s not a passcode option like the classic YNAB app. Please update the app!

I tried using YNAB on two different occasions, and at first it was difficult for me to understand. But third time is a charm! When utilizing the webinars, videos, and asking the support team questions, you gain a better understanding. I finally feel as though I’m taking control over my money, and not the other way around. The app and website are so user friendly. I was able to add my accounts, and it didn’t take forever for them to connect. I highly recommend this app to anyone who needs a little guidance on how to manage their money. It will change the way you view and spend money forever. Top notch, five stars, A++ for YNAB!
  • Landscape only

I use the app in portrait mode on my iPhone. Being forced to use landscape on my iPad is really annoying. I understand you're probably trying to make use of the extra screen real estate, but it would be nice to be able to use the app in portrait mode as well.

Three years ago I was in debt up to my eyeballs, doomed to rent forever. Some solid budgeting and a fortuitous couple of tax refunds later, I have no more credit card debt and I’m on track to buy a house I can love in September. Don’t just use the app! Go to the site and read the method. Watch the videos, take a free webinar. YNAB is not just an app, it’s a whole program. They teach you how to see money differently. They teach you how to control your debt without it controlling you. You learn to be strategic, practical, and even have a little bit of fun with the money you work so hard to earn. YNAB also helped me to save up for this iPhone X (yay for priorities!); I wish their app had full iPhone X support.
  • Steals your screen space

In the old app there's 7 categories simultaneously visible on the screen. In the new app it's 5. Even though the font size is 1.5 bigger in the old app, row heights are bigger in the new app, and also the top of the screen here is occupied by messages about overspent categories and other useless stuff. Wow, 2 overspent categories! Really? OMG! Thank you so much, as I am even remotely not able to comprehend how to scroll the budget screen. So apparently the only way of knowing about my overspent categories is by reading the message that fills up 20% of the budget screen. Great app useful features 10/10 would budget again. /s P.S.: if you're not still fully satisfied, there's also a terrific customer service. The kind that does nothing useful if you write a request about implementing an option to make rows' heights smaller, even if 22 weeeks have passed since.

Love being able to track every dollar I have and being able to set aside money for specific purposes. Helps me make sure I’m saving for the most important things in my life. Much better than Mint but definitely more hands on. Worth the price for a subscription.

Still waiting for the app to be compatible with the iPhone X.
  • Add the option for multiple currencies

I used this app for a few months and really like the idea of it. It definitely takes a bit to get used to and get it all set up with categories. But ultimately I gave up using it because I’m always traveling and dealing in multiple currencies. I would always have to convert the currency before manually entering it and it became too time consuming. There are other expense tracking apps that automatically convert currencies for you which is so convenient. If you add this feature I might come back.
